_____________________________________________________________ COUMADIN _____________________________________________________________ MIRADON This is an indaedione anticoagulant that sructurally is unrelated to warfarin. It can be used in patients who cannot tolerate warfarin. The medication comes in 50 mg tablets and the dose used to achieve a therapeutic INR is 50-250 mg/day. Adverse effects include myelosuppression, dermatitis, jaundice, and renal insufficiency. Therefore, periodic measurements of liver function enzymes and CBC are recommended.
